Artificial Grass-So What is the Big Deal?
The Trend is Rising….
As you have probably heard, more and more people are ripping our their authentic grass yards and trading them in for synthetic grass yards that require less maintenance, are more cost efficient and are green in nature. Studies have predicted that the money people are spending on artificial turf will increase by over 25% in this next year alone. Essentially this translates to an increase revenue of over two hundred and fifty million dollars in this next year.
But Why Artificial Turf?
People are starting to recognize the benefits of artificial turf. Not only will home owners and commercial property owners not have to worry about maintenance such as mowing and watering, but it also becomes unnecessary to fertilize. In some communities that struggle with drought, home owners are actually being offered a financial incentive to install artificial turf to help reduce the overall consumption of water.
Here are some benefits of artificial turf that home owners never expected to find:
- Because artificial turf is not real grass, bugs can not live in it. And therefore the cost of having to spray for bugs is eliminated.
- Because artificial turf is installed upon a layer of mesh, there is no dirt involved. Therefore, if you have children they will no longer track dirt into the house. Additionally because the material that synthetic grass is made out of does not smear, your children will not get grass stains on their clothes.
- If you have a child that is prone to falling down and hurting him or herself, pads can be installed under the synthetic grass to create a softer landing zone.
When Did All This Start?
For all you football and baseball fans, synthetic grass was actually developed in the 1970’s so that it could be installed in stadiums across the country. While synthetic grass has come a long way since then, the primary reason for being used in sports stadiums was its low maintenance.
Going Green…And How Artificial Turf Helps…
Now a day, people are more aware of the benefits of going green and the tremendous impact that this has on our environment. If you are concerned with going green, artificial turf can make a large impact. By having artificial turf you will no longer need your gas driven lawn mower, use lawn fertilizer or water your yard. Artificial turf is an excellent solution to not only doing your part to help the environment, but it will also ensure that you, your pets and children have a beautiful yard to play on for years to come!
